Congratulations to NC State on the win. The Wolfpack played a terrific second half, scoring 55 points while shooting 73.1% from the field. For Duke, it was an uncharacteristic offensive performance, posting just a 36.4% effective field goal percentage. It was their only game of the season below 40% eFG, and the Blue Devils had just two other games below 45% eFG all year. Yesterday was only the fourth game in which Duke was unable to eclipse 0.75 pps from three-point range, and the first game all season below 0.75 pps on two-pointers. Duke’s 15 points from beyond the arc matched their second lowest total of the year - Jared McCain made 3 of 4 three-pointers in the final 1:08, meaning the Blue Devils were just 2 of 16 from three over the first 38:52. The veteran duo of D.J. Burns (29 points) and DJ Horne (20 points) led the Wolfpack, while Michael O’Connell added 6 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. McCain finished with 32 points, Jeremy Roach had 13 points and 3 assists, and Kyle Filipowski posted 11 points and 9 rebounds. Congrats again to NC State, continuing an incredible run and advancing to their first Final Four since 1983 - I’m sure Jimmy V is flashing his infectious smile. Some of my close family and friends are loyal Wolfpack fans, what a special March for them and the State program.

I’ll have a season wrap-up article coming soon but, for now, I Just want to say how proud I am of the 2023-2024 Duke team. As it is every year, for every team except one, it was a disappointing and abrupt end to the season. In my opinion, questions in the postgame press conference (or elsewhere) regarding the state of the Duke program are completely off base. Jon Scheyer is both a winner and a competitor, and it’s a shame for those questions to be asked just a few minutes after the season. It was a tough loss and I feel for the Duke locker room - those guys dealt with adversity all season, and responded each time to ultimately get within 20:00 of the Final Four.
